2024 Kingaroy Show

The second day of the two-day 2024 Kingaroy Show will be held at Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street from 8:00am until late tonight. In addition to the usual big range of horse, cattle and equestrian events, this year's Show will also feature Tractor Pulls; Woodchops; a Dog Show; the Eljay Freestyle Motocross Show; vintage machinery; a big display of caged birds; specialty food vans; and a lot more besides. There'll also be a jaw-dropping Sideshow Alley that's always the biggest in the region. And this evening, the Kingaroy Speedway will be making a welcome return to the Show and admission is included in the Show's ticket price (racing starts at 5:00pm). Single day tickets are just $20 for adults, $15 for age or disability pensioners and high school students (under-12s can get in for free if accompanied by a paying adult). Linville Markets
The Linville Progress Association will be holding their monthly markets in George Street, Linville (down from the Linville Hotel) from 7:00am to around 12:00 noon this morning. The markets feature great BBQ breakfasts (from 7:00am to 9:320am) and lots of fresh produce, home-made foods, crafts and bric-a-brac and run on the first Sunday of each month. Sunday Afternoon Poker - Kingaroy
Sunday afternoon Texas Hold'Em poker games will be played at Kingaroy RSL in Markwell Street, Kingaroy today. Registrations start at 2:00pm and play begins at 2:30pm. All games are free to play and there are prizes for first, second and third. More details? Phone the RSL on (07) 4162-1755.
Kaimkillenbun Trail Ride
Kaimkillenbun P&C will be holding the second (and final) day of their two-day 26th annual Kaimkillenbun Trail Ride through farm paddocks and the foothills of the Bunya Mountains at Rangemore Road, Moola (near Kaimkillenbun) from 9:00am to 2:00pm today. The ride will offer an Open Track, an U16s Track and a Pee Wee Track, and ride fees range from $20 for Pee Wees through to $90 for adults - but it's a strictly cash-only event. Open Mic Jam Session & Social Bowls - Kilkivan
The Kilkivan Bowls Club in Crescent Street, Kilkivan will be holding a free Open Mic Jam Session from 12:00 noon to around 4:00pm today. The club's bar and hot food will be available from noon, and barefoot social bowls will be happening on the greens from around 1:00pm (green fees for this are $8 for adults or $4 for students). Murgon & District Bantam Club Show
The Murgon and District Bantam Club will be holding its fifth annual Bantam Show in the Poultry Pavilion at the Murgon Showgrounds (enter via Watt Street and turn right to the pavilion). All birds will be in their pens by 8:15am with judging to start at 8:45am. There'll be all sorts of bantams on display - both soft feather and hard feather varieties - along with a canteen serving breakfast, morning teas and lunches, with free coffee and tea available all day along with free admission. Timbertowns Woodworkers - Blackbutt
The Timbertowns Woodworkers group will be holding their regular Sunday morning meeting at the Blackbutt Showgrounds in Bowman Road, Blackbutt from 8:30am until around 12:00 noon today. Kingaroy Eisteddfod
The ninth day of the 2024 Kingaroy Eisteddfod will be held at Kingaroy Town Hall in Glendon Street, Kingaroy from 10:45am onwards today, with competitors in the Music section battling it out for line honours (a process that will continue until May 7). Spectators are very welcome and a nominal entry fee applies.
Rail Trail Express Relay Run - Murgon To Kingaroy
The annual Rail Trail Express Relay Run will be held on the South Burnett Rail Trail between 7:00am and 1:30pm today. Runners have to complete a section of the 42km course to pass on their baton and the event now attracts upwards of 100 participants. Spectators are very welcome to view the race's finish at O'Neill Square in Kingaroy from around 1:00pm onwards, where a sausage sizzle will be running as well.
Elleven Dollar Bills & Myles Dunn - Linville
Entertainers Elleven Dollar Bills will be performing at the Linville Hotel in George Street, Linville from 11:00am until 3:00pm this afternoon, followed by Myles Dunn who'll play from 4:00pm until around 8:00pm. The hotel's kitchen will also be open for lunch and snacks from 11:00am and there's free camping across the road or paid accommodation at the pub if you want to stay overnight. More details? Kumbia Museum
The Kumbia and District Historical Society's museum, located in the Federation Heritage Centre behind Kumbia Hall in Bell Street, will be open from 1:30pm to 3:30pm this afternoon. Fundraising Show - Nanango
The South Burnett Western Performance Club will be running the first day of a two-day Fundraising Show (to raise funds for South Burnett CTC) at their equestrian grounds in Racecourse Road, Nanango from 8:30am onwards this morning through until early evening. Judge Helen Bentley will be putting entrants through their paces and there'll be free unpowered campsites in the grounds if you want to stay overnight, along with a canteen that will run all day. Sunflower "You Pick" Weekend - Wheatlands
Many people travel to the Darling Downs each autumn to see (and pick) sunflowers, and this weekend The Blooming Farmhouse at 724 Byee Road in Wheatlands will be opening their own sunflower crop to the public from 8:30am to 5:00pm to allow guests to pose for photos and pick their own sunflowers (BYO secateurs and closed-in shoes). Big Rosella Field Days - Woolooga
Petersens Farm at 2 Reilly Road in Woolooga will be hosting the second day of their annual Field Days between 9:00am and 3:00pm today. This event - formerly known as the Big Rosella Festival - is now in its 9th year and it features local foods, farm tours, artisan and boutique markets, live music, art, cooking and cocktail demos from chefs and much more. Petersens Farm are Australia's biggest producers of the quirky, hot-pink fruit (also known as wild hibiscus) and there’s something for everyone at this event from those who fondly remember their grandmother’s rosella jam from long ago to avid foodies keen on paddock-to-plate dining and the resurgence of rosellas as a gourmet superfood.
