Mother's Day

Today is the second Sunday in May: Mothers Day. Different countries around the world celebrate Mother's Day on different days of the year because the event has many different origins. Some say Mothers Day first began in ancient Greece and emerged from a cult which was marked by the festival of Cybele (the mother of the gods) which was celebrated around Greece and the Greek colonies of Asia Minor, then later in Rome. In more modern times, Mother's Day began in the USA when it was copied from England by social activist Julia Ward Howe after the American Civil War as a call to unite women against all wars. But in the UK and Australia, the day simply celebrates motherhood and thanking our Mums. So if you'd like to give your own Mum a big "Thank You!" today, here's how you can do it:

Harrington Circus Show - Murgon

The Harrington Circus Show will be concluding it's three-day run at the Murgon Showgrounds in Macalister Street, Murgon today, offering an all-new 50-minute performance under a heated Big Top.
