South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Art Exhibition Opening - Wondai
The Wondai Regional Art Gallery on the roundabout at Wondai will be opening their latest monthly exhibition for 2024 with a wine and cheese tasting at 6:00pm tonight. This month the gallery will be hosting "Subject To Change", a new art installation by South Burnett artist Robyn Dower in the front and main galleries, along with "Either ... Or ...", an exhibition of collage art by Robyn's sister Kay Gorring in the rear gallery. As usual, tonight's opening will also feature great hot and cold finger foods and punch, along with wine tastings from a local winery, live entertainment and lots of fun socialising. Art Exhibition Opening - Kingaroy
Kingaroy Art Gallery’s May exhibition, “Deepening The Mystery" will be officially opened at the gallery (opposite the peanut silos in Haly Street) at 5:00pm tonight. The exhibition features works by artist Jane Ericksen, who was the overall winner of the gallery's prestigious David Bryce Award this year. As usual, tonight's opening will also feature light refreshments, a glass of wine and an opportunity to chat with the artist. Everyone is welcome and there's no admission. Note: After tonight's opening, the exhibition will remain on display from 10:00am to 4:00pm daily (and 9:00am to 1:00pm on Saturdays) until Saturday, May 25. Note: Jane Ericksen will also be the gallery's artist in residence from the 21st to 26th of May.
Harry Potter Vs Star Wars - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Library in Glendon Street, Kingaroy will be marking the 25th anniversary of the Battle Of Hogwarts and Star Wars Day (which is held on May 4 each year) with a free, fun fancy dress get-together that will be running at the library from 5:00pm to 7:00pm tonight. Children of all ages can get dressed up as their favourite Harry Potter or Star Wars character and enjoy themselves with a fun night of witchcraft, wizardry and Jedi skills. More details? Friday Junior Rugby League - Nanango
There'll be two U14s junior rugby league games played at Fred Kassulke Oval off the D'Aguilar Highway south of Nanango's CBD this evening. At 5:30pm, Kingaroy will play Murgon and at 6:30pm, Nanango will play Wondai. Spectators are very welcome.
Friday Morning Bingo - Murgon

Friday Line Dancing - Kingaroy

Friday Night At The Shed - Nanango
The Shed in Little Drayton Street, Nanango (just next to the Scott Car Park) will be open from 7:00pm until late tonight for local musicians and anyone else who enjoys music to come along, bring their instruments and jam in a relaxed and informal setting, or just sit on the Shed's lounges, listen in and enjoy the wide variety of talent on offer. The Proston Golf Club on Brigooda Road, Proston will be holding a Friday afternoon social golf game today. Names need to be in by 2:00pm for a 2:30pm tee-off, and everyone is welcome. Kingaroy Eisteddfod
The seventh day of the 2024 Kingaroy Eisteddfod will be held at Kingaroy Town Hall in Glendon Street, Kingaroy from 10:45am onwards today, with competitors in the Dance Solo/Duo/Trio section battling it out for line honours (a process that will continue until May 4). Spectators are very welcome and a nominal entry fee applies.
Cuppa And Chat Group
Kingaroy's Cuppa and Chat Group will be holding its weekly meeting at The Biscuit Tin behind St Mary's Church at 15 Albert Street, Kingaroy from 10:00am to around 11:00am today. Nanango Men Blue will play Barambah Men under lights at the Kingaroy soccer fields at the end of Oliver Bond Street, Kingaroy at 6:00pm this evening, followed by a second match between Kingaroy West Men and Nanango Men White at 7:45pm. Spectators and supporters are very welcome and there's no admission fee.
Kingaroy RSL Bingo

Project Planning Workshops - Nanango & Blackbutt
The South Burnett Regional Council will be running a Project Planning Workshop at the Nanango Cultural Centre in George Street, Nanango from 9:00am to 11:00am this morning. The workshop is aimed at artists, artsworkers, not-for-profit groups, clubs and organisations and it will show participants how to put together all the necessary information for a project from concept to completion to support a grant application. The workshop is free but registration is necessary to help plan the seating. You can book a place on Eventbrite. South Burnett Pantry - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Pantry will be open from 8:30am to 12:00 noon today at 1A (Lot 3) Railway Terrace in Kingaroy. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $40 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items). Alcoholics Anonymous - Murgon
Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other to help solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership. AA isn't allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organisation or institution. AA meets in Murgon every Wednesday and Friday at 12:30pm at the Baptist Church at 94 Macalister Street, and members who can't make it in person can join in the meeting online via Zoom.
