South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
South Burnett Gem Show - Wondai
The South Burnett Gem and Fossicking Club will be holding the second day of their two-day Gem, Rock and Lapidary Show at the Wondai Sportsgrounds on the Bunya Highway north of Wondai's CBD from 9:00am to 2:00pm today. The event will feature unique crystal, rock and mineral displays; a dealer pavilion; outdoor tailgaters; and lots of fun for the kids including sand sieving; Thunder Egg cutting; lucky dips and free face painting. Food and drink stalls will be operating in the grounds, too, and there'll be a minerals numbers board as well. The Gem Show is alwsays a great family day out and admission is just $5 for adults (under 12s are free). You can obtain more details by phoning 0491-606-427 or by visiting the club's website
Kilkivan Great Horse Ride
The third (and final) day of the three day 2024 Kilkivan Great Horse Ride will get underway at 6:00am this morning with the start of the Endurance Ride, and it will be followed with the Handy Horse Challenge in the campdraft arena at 7:30am, along with novelty events at the Indoor Arena from 8:00am to 11:00am and line dancing on the main stage from 9:00am to around 10:00am. There'll be a Light Horse Demo in the Campdraft Arena from 10:00am to 11:00am and a Pack Saddle Demo in the yards at the same time, followed by a Horse Fancy Dress in the Indoor Arena at 11:15am, and then more novelty events that will run until early afternoon. Linville Markets
The Linville Progress Association will be holding their monthly markets in George Street, Linville (down from the Linville Hotel) from 7:00am to around 12:00 noon this morning. The markets feature great BBQ breakfasts and lots of fresh produce, home-made foods, crafts and bric-a-brac and run on the first Sunday of each month. Everyone is welcome and potential new stallholders should phone Gail on 0402-845-186 for more information.
Men's Carnival - Blackbutt
Blackbutt Golf Club at 51 Langton Road in Blackbutt will be running a Men's Carnival today - an 18 hole stroke event with double shotgun starts at 8:00am and 12:30pm. The Carnival offers prizes for the overall best nett winner; A, B and C grades gross & nett; pin shots and close approaches. Sophie Rainbow - Linville
Entertainer Sophie Rainbow will be performing at the Linville Hotel in George Street, Linville from 11:00am until 3:00pm this afternoon. The hotel's kitchen will also be operating from 11:00am for lunch and snacks and there's free camping across the road or paid accommodation at the hotel if you want to stay overnight. More details? Open Mic Jam Session & Social Bowls - Kilkivan
The Kilkivan Bowls Club in Crescent Street, Kilkivan will be holding a free Open Mic Jam Session from 12:00 noon to around 4:00pm today. The club's bar and hot food will be available from noon, and barefoot social bowls will be happening on the greens from around 1:00pm (green fees for this are $8 for adults or $4 for students). High Tea & Sunday Roast Lunch - Wondai
Dimities Cottage in Haly Street, Wondai (opposite the Wondai Regional Art Gallery) will be hosting a $10 per head High Tea from 10:00am to noon this morning. This will be followed by $20 per head BYO Sunday lunch from 12:00 noon featuring roast beef and vegetables followed by passionfruit cheesecake and tea or coffee. Sunday Afternoon Poker - Kingaroy

Kumbia Museum
The Kumbia and District Historical Society's museum, located in the Federation Heritage Centre behind Kumbia Hall in Bell Street, will be open from 1:30pm to 3:30pm this afternoon.
