South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Cooyar Trail Ride
The second (and final) day of the weekend-long annual Cooyar Trail Ride will be held at the Cooyar Showgrounds in Rangemore Road, Cooyar from 8:15am this morning until around 1:00pm this afternoon. The Ride caters for Peewee, Novice, Advanced Novice and Open riders, and fees apply to take part in the races - but spectators are welcome to come along and watch the action for free. There's also free camping in the showgrounds from Monday to Friday and a canteen and bar will be operating, too. However, visitors and participants should bring cash, because there's no ATMs or EFTPOS in the grounds.
Graham Rodger & Friends - Kingaroy
The king of Australian ballads Graham Rodger will be appearing in concert with Dianne Lindsay, Peter Simpson and Kevin Spencer at Kingaroy RSL in Markwell Street, Kingaroy from 1:00pm this afternoon. Wondai Autumn Garden Expo
The second (and final) day of Wondai's annual Autumn Garden Expo will be held at the Wondai Sportsgrounds on the Bunya Highway north of the CBD from 8:00am to 1:00pm this morning. The Expo features an extensive array of garden stalls, a hanging basket competition, and the Wondai District Garden Club's Horticultural Show. There'll also be food and drink outlets operating in the grounds, along with dozens of garden and gardening supply outlets. Admission is just $5, and children under 15 are free.
International Earth Day - Linville
Friends Of The Forest will be running an International Earth Day get-together at Linville Hall in George Street, Linville from 12:00 noon to 3:30pm today. The event will offer delicious lunches, a pop-up Op Shop stall, a special guest speaker who'll be discussing the importance of soil health and a dance party to cap off the afternoon, and it's free. Everyone is welcome!
Bookarama - Kingaroy
St John's Lutheran School P&C will be holding the second (and final) day of their giant two-day Bookarama at Kingaroy Town Hall in Glendon Street, Kingaroy from 8:00am to noon today, including a special "Happy Hour" from 11:00am to noon where all books are half price. Bookarama offers tens of thousands of books on all subjects at genuine bargain prices. The proceeds of Bookarama go to help the school and if you love books, it's heaven on a stick. Everyone is welcome and admission is free!
Timbertowns Woodworkers - Blackbutt
The Timbertowns Woodworkers group will be holding their regular Sunday morning meeting at the Blackbutt Showgrounds in Bowman Road, Blackbutt from 8:30am until around 12:00 noon today. Street Feast - Kingaroy
Street Feast will be operating at Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street, Kingaroy from 4:00pm until late this evening as part of its current tour of regional Queensland. Street Feast offers food trucks, dessert stalls, boutique retail stores and live music seldom (or never) seen in the South Burnett, and the $2 per person admission includes the chance to win a $100 Street Feast Food & Retail voucher.
Weeding Bee - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy branch of Native Plants Queensland will be holding a weeding bee at the Carroll Nature Reserve in Coral Street, Kingaroy from 9:00am to 12:30pm today to mark World Earth Day. Participants should bring drinking water, morning tea and lunch (if staying for lunch), a folding chair, personal protective equipment such as gloves and safety glasses, and wear suitable clothing and footwear such as a hat, a long sleeved shirt, full length trousers and stout shoes or boots. Workers are also encouraged to bring their own weeding tools, such as trowels, secateurs and mattocks. Buckets and fertilizer bags are useful for seed and bulb removal. More details? Community Resilience And Emergency Services Expo - Blackbutt
The South Burnett Regional Council will be running a free Community Resilience And Emergency Services Expo at the Taromeo Rural Fire Brigade's shed in Hart Street, Blackbutt from 10:00am to 2:00pm today. The Expo will offer QFES demonstrations, a free BBQ, drinks and evacuation kit items to help prepare residents for emergencies. Everyone is welcome! Note: Two other Expos will be held at East Nanango (May 25) and Ballogie (June 8).
Janet Skinner Art Sale - Blackbutt
A sale of artworks, greeting cards and books by well-known former Blackbutt artist Janet Skinner (who recently passed away) will be held at her gallery at 136 Greenhills Drive in Blackbutt from 10:00am to 1:00pm today. The sale has been organised by her daughter in accordance with Janet's wishes and today's sale is a last chance to acquire one of her original works. Blackbutt Country Markets
The Blackbutt Lions Country Markets - run on the third Sunday of every month - will be held at Les Muller Park in Hart Street, Blackbutt from 7:00am until around mid-day today. The markets offer a wide range of locally produced arts, crafts and freshly harvested foodstuffs from more than 40 stallholders and everyone is welcome along!
Tip - Linville
Tip will be performing at the Linville Hotel in George Street, Linville from 11:00am until late tonight. The hotel's kitchen will also be operating from for lunch and snacks and there's free camping across the road or paid accommodation at the pub if you want to stay overnight. More details? Yarraman Wild Horse Campdraft
The second (and final) day of the Yarraman Wild Horse Campdraft will be held at the Yarraman Showgrounds on the New England Highway south-west of town from early this morning through until around 3:00pm this afternoon. Today's events will feature a Junior, a Juvenile and a Novice draft, all for cash prizes. A bar, canteen and coffee van will be running in the grounds and campsites are also available onsite if you want to stay over. Admission is free for spectators.
Sunday Afternoon Poker - Kingaroy
Sunday afternoon Texas Hold'Em poker games will be played at Kingaroy RSL in Markwell Street, Kingaroy today. Registrations start at 2:00pm and play begins at 2:30pm. All games are free to play and there are prizes for first, second and third. More details? Phone the RSL on (07) 4162-1755.
