South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
South Burnett Koala Forum - Murgon
The Burnett Catchment Care Association and the CSIRO will be running a South Burnett Koala Forum at the Murgon Services Club in Lamb Street, Murgon from 10:30am to 1:30pm today. The forum will include presentations from the CSIRO, Burnett Koala Program, Koala Action Gympie Region and Koala Rescue Queensland looking at ways to conserve and protect this much-loved Australian native animal. Gem & Fossicking Club - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Gem and Fossicking Club will be holding their regular Monday meeting at their club's workshop in Shed 2 in the South Burnett Enterprise Centre at 6 Cornish Street, Kingaroy from 8:30am to around 12:00 noon today. The club embraces all aspects of lapidary (including gem hunting and cutting) and meets in Kingaroy every Monday and Thursday. New members are always welcome. More details? Phone 0491-606-427.
Diabetes Yarning - Cherbourg
A Diabetes Yarning workshop for First Nations people will be held at Gundoo Early Years Place at 8 Fisher Street, Cherbourg from 10:00am to 1:00pm today. The workshop - presented by Diabetes Australia and the National Diabetes Services Scheme - will pass on essential knowledge about diabetes, as well as insights and strategies ranging from identifying the symptoms to managing the condition. Indigenous people were 4 times more likely to have diabetes than non-Indigenous people, and 10 times more likely to die from it (or conditions associated with it) between the ages of 55 and 64, so today's workshop is important. Kingaroy Eisteddfod
The third day of the 2024 Kingaroy Eisteddfod will be held at Kingaroy Town Hall in Glendon Street, Kingaroy from 10:45am onwards today, with competitors in the Dance Solo/Duo/Trio section battling it out for line honours (a process that will continue until May 4). Spectators are very welcome and a nominal entry fee applies.
Proston SES Training Night
The Proston SES group will be meeting at their shed at the corner of Collingwood and Nelson Streets in Proston at 5:30pm this evening for their regular weekly training night. New members are very welcome!
Nanango Men's Shed
The Nanango Men's Shed at the corner of Mt Stanley Road and Heathermore Lane, Nanango will be open from 8:30am to around 12:30pm today for its regular Monday get-together. Local SES Meeting
SES volunteers from Wondai, Murgon, Nanango and Kingaroy will be holding their weekly group meeting from 7:00pm to 9:00pm tonight. The venue alters from one week to the next, but you can find the location of tonight's meeting by phoning Scott on 0460-304-715. Potential new SES volunteers are also very welcome to attend.
Proston QCWA Crafts Group
The Proston QCWA Crafts Group will be holding their regular Monday meeting at the Proston QCWA Rooms in Rodney Street from 9:00am today. Line Dancing - Blackbutt
A line dancing class will be held at the Blackbutt Memorial Hall in Bowman Road, Blackbutt at 7:00pm tonight. Line dancing classes are held every Monday night and Wednesday morning, and new dancers are always welcome.

Silver Foxes Line Dancing - Kingaroy
The Silver Foxes line dancing group will be meeting at the GB Hall inside the Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street, Kingaroy from 9:00am to 12:00 noon this morning. The group offers a fun morning of line dancing and socialising, along with morning tea and it meets every Monday. New members are always welcome - just bring comfortable shoes and a water bottle - and there's plenty of off-street parking available too.
Graham House Community Garden - Murgon
Graham House's community garden group will be meeting at the garden behind the Graham House Community Centre at 21 Taylor Street East in Murgon at 8:00am this morning. Wondai To Kingaroy Shopping Bus
Graham House will be running a shopping bus between Wondai and Kingaroy today. The bus will pick up customers from their Wondai address at 8:30am and transport them to Kingaroy Shoppingworld (or other destinations if arranged beforehand), then make a return journey to Wondai at around 12:00 noon. Tickets on the bus are $10 per person return and it runs every Monday, but places are limited so a booking is necessary. You can make one by phoning Graham House Community Transport on (07) 4169-8400.
Line Dancing - Wooroolin
A line dancing class for beginners and improvers will be held at Wooroolin Hall on the Bunya Highway at Wooroolin from 7:30pm to 9:00pm this evening. Class fees are $10 and students should wear comfy shoes and bring a water bottle. Classes are held every Monday night.
Wild Horse Walking Club - Yarraman
Yarraman's Monday Walking Club will meet up at the BBQ Hut next to the toilets in Errol Munt Oval on Margaret Street, Yarraman at 7:00am this morning for a leisurely one hour walk on a concrete path walking circuit. The group helps members stay active and healthy as well as meet new friends, and it has very flexible walking options too. Parkinson's Support Group
The South Burnett's Parkinson's Support Group meets on the last Monday of each month at different venues to provide help and support to people who suffer from Parkinson's and their carers. Monday Morning Bingo - Yarraman

Project Planning Workshop - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Regional Council will be running a Project Planning Workshop at the Council's offices at 45 Glendon Street, Kingaroy from 9:00am to 11:00am this morning. The workshop is aimed at artists, artsworkers, not-for-profit groups, clubs and organisations and it will show participants how to put together all the necessary information for a project from concept to completion to support a grant application. The workshop is free but registration is necessary to help plan the seating. You can book a place on Eventbrite.
Junior & Senior Boxing Classes

The group have a welcoming, inclusive and fun approach to singing and meet every Monday except for school and public holidays. South Burnett Pantry - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Pantry will be open from 8:30am to 12:00 noon today at 1A (Lot 3) Railway Terrace in Kingaroy. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $40 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items).
