South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
South Burnett Gem Show - Wondai
The South Burnett Gem and Fossicking Club will be holding the first day of their two-day Gem, Rock and Lapidary Show at the Wondai Sportsgrounds on the Bunya Highway north of Wondai's CBD from 9:00am to 4:00pm today. The event will feature unique crystal, rock and mineral displays; a dealer pavilion; outdoor tailgaters; and lots of fun for the kids including sand sieving; Thunder Egg cutting; lucky dips and free face painting. Food and drink stalls will be operating in the grounds, too, and there'll be a minerals numbers board as well. The Gem Show is always a great family day out and admission is just $5 for adults (under 12s are free). You can obtain more details by phoning 0491-606-427 or by visiting the club's website
Kilkivan Great Horse Ride
The second day of the three day 2024 Kilkivan Great Horse Ride will get underway at 7:30am this morning with briefings for riders taking part in the Long Trail Ride and the Adventure Ride at the respective ride's muster points, after which both rides will get underway. Meanwhile - back at the Kilkivan Showgrounds at 88 Mudlo Road in Kilkivan there'll be bush poetry finals in the Campdraft Bar from 9:00am and an All Breeds Horse Show in the campdraft arena. On the main stage, there'll be line dancing from 11:30am, along with dog agility and working dog demos at the indoor arena from 1:00pm to 2:30pm. This year's Great Horse Ride Parade will occur along Bligh Street in Kilkivan's CBD from 4:30pm, and this will be followed back at the Showgrounds with mechanical bull rides and a concert featuring the Tennessee Lights Band on the main stage that will run from 7:00pm to 11:00pm. Nanango Country Markets
The Nanango Show Society will be holding their regular monthly Country Markets at the Nanango Showgrounds in Cairns Street from 6:00am to around 12:00 noon today. As usual, the markets will feature a wide variety of craft stalls, new and used goods, plants, poultry and pets, but they'll be operating in a COVID Safe way. The Nanango Markets are the largest rural market in south east Queensland and attract up to 420 stallholders. But new stallholders are always very welcome too! More info? James Lynch Junior Duo - Kingaroy
The James Lynch Junior Duo (ie David Lynch and Rob Fitz-Herbert) will be performing at the Commercial Hotel at the corner of Glendon and Haly Streets, Kingaroy from 8:00pm to 11:00pm tonight. Pig On A Spit Night - Wooroolin
The Grand Hotel on the Bunya Highway at Wooroolin will be holding their final monthly Pig On A Spit Night for 2023 from 5:30pm until late this evening. Apart from a great roast pork meal there'll also be a Lucky Door prize, raffles and live karaoke entertainment. Tickets are $32.50 for adults, $21 for pensioners, $16 for high school students and $10 for primary school children (U5s are free). Kilkivan Touch Footy
Touch football games will be played at Weier Oval off the Wide Bay Highway just north of Kilkivan's CBD from 6:00pm tonight. Playing fees are just $2 and everyone is welcome!
A Taste Of Ireland - Kingaroy
Celtic dance troupe A Taste Of Ireland will be performing at Kingaroy Town Hall in Glendon Street, Kingaroy from 2:00pm to 3:50pm this afternoon, and again from 7:30pm to 9:20pm tonight as part of their current world tour. Tickets are $69.50 per head for each session and they can be booked online
The Dodgie Rockers - Kingaroy
Hervey Bay rock and roll entertainers The Dodgie Rockers will be performing at the Kingaroy RSL in Markwell Street, Kingaroy from 7:00pm until 11:00pm tonight. Admission is free. More details from the RSL on (07) 4162-1755.
Kroozy Tunes - Linville
Entertainers Kroozy Tunes will be performing at the Linville Hotel in George Street, Linville from 5:00pm to around 9:00pm tonight. The hotel's kitchen will also be open for lunch, dinner and snacks and and there's free camping across the road or paid accommodation at the hotel if you want to stay overnight. More details? The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the shed next to the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Men's Shed meets every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday to work on projects and new members are always welcome.
Saturday Morning Tennis - Blackbutt
