Kaye Hill Memorial Race Day - Nanango
The Nanango Race Club will be holding its annual autumn race meeting at Lee Park Racecourse, off the D'Aguilar Highway, today in memory of former Nanango trainer Kaye Hill. Gates will open at 11:30am with Race 1 to jump at 1:00pm. Free buses will be running from the Carrollee Hotel in Kingaroy (11:30am sharp) and the Fitzroy Hotel (Howletts lane, Nanango) at noon but bookings are essential! The fashions competition will be extra special today as it is a regional qualifier for the "Fashions From Afar" competition. The female and male winners will each receive $500 and a sash plus an invitation to enter the Fashions From Afar Final, which will be held at Eagle Farm on June 27 (Tattersall's Tiara Race Day). Pre-registrations for today's fashion competition can be made online. There'll also be a competition for the Best Dressed Strapper and South Burnett Mayor Kathy Duff will also be looking for her "Paddock Pick" (ie. best dressed on course, no registration required!). There'll be free activities for the children and Mr Q will be performing live after the last race (before heading to the Commercial Hotel for a 7:30pm after party). Admission to the races is $10 for adults and $5 for pensioners (under 18s are free) and entry tickets can be booked online. NB. There's no ATM on the course.
Proston Golden Spurs Campdraft
Day 2 of the three-day Proston Golden Spurs Campdraft will kick off at the Proston Showgrounds on the Proston-Boondooma Road, west of the CBD, at 6:30am this morning. Golden Spurs is a major fundraiser for the Proston Pony Club. Today's action will feature Novice, Mini, Junior and Juvenile competitions as well as the Ladies Final. Tonight there'll be dancing, a DJ, and the auction of five stallion service fees! Spectators are welcome to come along and watch all the action for free. A bar and canteen will be open. More info? Live Well Community Expo - Yarraman
An all-day event which aims to empower people to make the best choices for the health of their families and pets will be held from 10:00am to 4:00pm today at the Yarraman Memorial Hall in Browne Street. There will be exhibitors discussing holistic therapies and natural remedies, herbs and permaculture. Entry is by gold coin donation. Landholder Workshop - Proston
CANCELLED A workshop, "How To Plan A Burn", will be held from 9:00am to 2:00pm today at Proston Showgrounds. The session will cover when, where and how to burn; safety protocols; fuel hazard assessments; and local regulations and permits. Registrations can be made online
Clarinet & Piano Recital - Haly Creek
Taabinga Homestead, at 7 Old Taabinga Road, will be hosting a duo recital from 2:00pm this afternoon featuring Nathanial Smorti on clarinet and Maree Kilpatrick on piano. The recital will feature works by Brahms, Debussy and more and be followed by afternoon tea. Tickets can be booked online

Rugby League - Murgon
Murgon Mustangs will be hosting their annual Domestic Violence Awareness round today at Murgon Showgrounds. Junior games for Under 6s to Under 12s will be played across six fields as well as four South Burnett Eagles games: 9:00am, U15 Boys, SB v Pittsworth; 10:10am, U16 Boys, SB v Pittsworth; 11:30am, U13 Girls, SB v Hervey Bay; and 12:20pm, U15 Girls, SB v Hervey Bay. Three A Grade games will also be played: 1:20pm, Nanango v Wondai; 2:50pm, Murgon v Cherbourg; and 4:20pm, Blackbutt v Kingaroy.

Come & Try Dragon Boating - BP Dam
The Barambah Dragons dragon boat club invites people to try out the ancient Chinese sport of dragon boat racing at Bjelke-Petersen Dam from 9:00am (for a 9:30am paddle-off) on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month. Paddles and gear will be supplied but participants should wear closed shoes that can tolerate getting wet and bring along sunscreen, water, a towel and warm clothes for afterwards. The event is free and will be followed by a gold coin donation sausage sizzle. Everyone is welcome! NB. Check the club's Facebook page as times could change due to the weather.
Crafty Chat & Create - Blackbutt
