2026 Blackbutt Show

The 92nd Blackbutt Show will be held at the Blackbutt Showgrounds in Hart Street, Blackbutt from 5:30am this morning (when the gates open for competitors) until late tonight. This year's Show will have the usual cattle and poultry competitions along with the popular chainsawing tests of skill from noon and the finals of a special wood-chopping challenge (see separate entry). The special Outback Jack's Stockman Show, featuring working sheepdogs, horsemanship and whip-cracking, will be in the ring. There'll also be a dog show from 9:00am and plenty of fun for children including face painting, a mini circus and baby animal farm. As usual, the Show will also feature a great spread of pavilion exhibits; sideshow alley; showbags; and trade displays. And after dark there'll also be a fireworks display at 7:30pm followed by live entertainment from 8:00pm with Amber Goldsmith. Admission is $15.00 for adults or $5.00 for high school students and pensioners (children under 12 are admitted free).
Trans-Tasman Woodchopping Showdown - Blackbutt
Day 2 of the special Trans-Tasman Woodchopping Showdown will be held in the chopping ring at the Blackbutt Showgrounds from 9:00am today. Watch the North New Zealand Wood Chop team take on the Blackbutt Axemen in a series of team races!
Cent Auction - Kingaroy
St Mary's Catholic Parish will be holding a Cent Auction from 12:30pm today in the Parish Hall at 15 Albert Street, Kingaroy. There'll also be raffles and everyone is welcome to come along!
Kingaroy Friendship Markets
The monthly Kingaroy Friendship Markets will be held at Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street, Kingaroy from 7:00am to around noon today. The markets, which are held on the third Saturday of every month, feature a range of arts, crafts, food stalls, fruit and garden stalls, plus unusual bric-a-brac. New stallholders are always very welcome.
Go Getta Girls - Kingaroy

Proston Community Markets
The monthly Proston Community Markets - held on the 3rd Saturday of each month - will be running outside the QCWA Rooms at Railway Park in Rodney Street, Proston from 7:30am this morning. Stalls feature handmade crafts, baking, gifts, plants and bric-a-brac. There'll also be a barbecue, morning tea and hot and cold drinks available. Inverlaw Hall Dance
A dance will be held at Inverlaw Hall on the Burrandowan Road (roughly 20km from Kingaroy) from 8:00pm until late this evening. The band will be Mystique. There'll be the usual supper and novelty dances, along with a Lucky Door draw and a raffle. Admission is $12 for adults and $5 for high school students and everyone is welcome! More details? Australian Rules - Kingaroy
South Burnett Saints will be celebrating their annual Heritage Day at Lyle Vidler Oval in Kingaroy today with their first home game of the 2026 season as well as the official opening of their new changerooms. Bulldogs Spirit Awards will also be announced. All South Burnett teams will be in action: U11.5s v Goondiwindi at 9:00am, followed by U13.5s Mixed v Coolaroo at 10:00am, followed by U15.5s v Goondiwindi at 11:30am, Senior Women v Goondiwindi at 1:00pm and Senior Men v Goondiwindi at 2:45pm.
Taabinga Cemetery Tour - Kingaroy

Rugby League - Kingaroy
Kingaroy Red Ants will be hosting Round 4 of the South Burnett Rugby League's senior competition today at T.J. O'Neill Oval on Youngman Street, Kingaroy. At 1:30pm, Wondai Wolves v Blackbutt-Yarraman Timbertowners; at 3:00pm, Kingaroy Red Ants v Murgon Mustangs; and at 4:30pm, Cherbourg Hornets v Nanango Stags.
Charity Bowls Day - Tansey
The Tansey Bowls Club, supported by Boonara Masonic Lodge, will be hosting a charity social bowls day from 3:00pm this afternoon followed by a barbecue from 6:00pm. Senior Soccer - Kingaroy
Kingaroy Senior Soccer Club will be hosting double-header games from the Darling Downs Community competition at their grounds at Tom Alford Oval in Oliver Bond Street, Kingaroy, this evening. Kingaroy’s Division 2 team will take on Garden City Raiders at 5:00pm, followed by the Division 1 team in action against Highfields at 7:00pm. Spectators are urged to come along and support the local team in action! The canteen will also be open.
Wooroolin Line Dancers

Yarraman's Heritage Centre, at 26 Millar Street, will be holding a Bookfest and Garage Sale from 8:00am to 2:00pm today. There'll be heaps of books plus much more! Wheelchair Basketball - Murgon
South Burnett Blasters Wheelchair Basketball will be played today from 10:00am to noon at the South Burnett PCYC in Macalister Street, Murgon. The Suncoast Spinners are a social sports club which caters for both physically disabled and able-bodied wheelchair basketball players. Participants don't need to use a wheelchair every day to play! All equipment is provided but players must wear enclosed shoes and bring a water bottle. Wheelchair basketball is an all-abilities game and everyone is invited to come along and have a go! It is held at the PCYC every fortnight during school terms.
Movie Afternoon - Linville
