2026 Blackbutt Avocado Festival

The 2026 Blackbutt Avocado Festival will be running all day today, with activities near the Memorial Hall in Bowman Road. The festival fun will get under way at 8:00am and run until about 4:00pm (but breakfast will also be available at the canteen from 7:00am). Market stalls will be operating both inside and outside the hall. There'll also be the traditional Farmers' Avo Games, which includes Avo Juggling (10:00am-11:00am), Avo Rolling, Avo Tossing, Avo Eating (1:30pm) and the Avo Strongman/Strongwoman (11:00am-midday), Avo wheelbarrow races (2:30pm). The games get under way at 9:00am with the Avo Roll finals at 4:00pm. There'll be helicopter rides available, live music and kids' activities and rides. Also, there'll be Thermomix cooking demos, blacksmith demos and trackless train rides. The official opening will be at 10:00am; the annual Avocado Festival Parade at 1:00pm (on the rail trail) and the skydiving Avo Drop at 2:00pm. A licensed bar will be running all day. Entry to the festival area is free and the event is designed to be family-friendly.

Heritage Nanango Country Music Muster

The 2026 Heritage Nanango Country Music Muster will continue today with invited artists on stage from 9:00. Confirmed artists for the weekend include Jeff Brown, Diane Coombes, Evan Plaschinda, Rob Breese, Gina Timms, Cameron Mason, Dean Richardson, Karen Lynne, Brian Letton, Don Costa, Tom Maxwell, Dean Perrett as well as bush poets Gary Fogarty, Ray Essery and John Watkins. The entrance fee for today is $45 per person or $30 after 3:00pm (children aged 14-17 years are half price, under 14s accompanied by an adult are free). Camping is available at the Showgrounds for $10 per person for unpowered sites only, all powered sites have already been booked. Nanango Spring Races

The Nanango Race Club will be holding its annual spring meeting with five races at the Lee Park Racecourse, on Racecourse Road off the D'Aguilar Highway. Free buses will be running from the Carrollee Hotel in Kingaroy (11:30am sharp) and the Fitzroy Hotel (Howletts Lane, Nanango) at noon but bookings are essential! The fashions competition will also include South Burnett Mayor Kathy Duff's "Paddock Pick" (ie. best dressed on course, no registration required!) and the Best Presented Strapper. There'll be free activities for the children. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for pensioners (under 18s are free)and tables for eight will cost $40. Tickets can be booked online

Come & Try Dragon Boating - BP Dam

The Barambah Dragons dragon boat club invites people to try out the ancient Chinese sport of dragon boat racing at Bjelke-Petersen Dam from 9:00am (for a 9:30am paddle-off) on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month. Paddles and gear will be supplied but participants should wear closed shoes that can tolerate getting wet and bring along sunscreen, water, a towel and warm clothes for afterwards. The event is free and will be followed by a gold coin donation sausage sizzle. Everyone is welcome! NB. Check the club's Facebook page as times could change due to the weather.

Heritage History Talk - Kingaroy

The Kingaroy Heritage Museum is hosting a free talk today by Kingaroy local Trevor Hansen about his Danish great-grandfather's hand-built wagon, which carried his family into Kingaroy over a century ago. The talk will be held at the Kingaroy Heritage Museum, 124 Haly Street from 9:30am.

Day 2 of the three-day Manumbar Campdraft will be held at the Manumbar Campdraft Grounds at 3896 Manumbar Road today, kicking off at 6:00am this morning with the continuation of the Jack Perrett Memorial Novice Draft, the Tim Richards Memorial Maiden Draft and Warren Hockey Memorial Restricted Open. This year's campdraft will feature Maiden, Novice, Open, Juvenile and Junior drafts, along with pony club events. On-site camping is available if you want to stay over.
