Easter Sunday
- Today is Easter Sunday, a declared public holiday. Most businesses in the South Burnett will be closed today or operating on restricted hours. All the same, there's a lot happening around our region over the Easter break - and here's how you can amuse yourself today:
Nanango Lions Charity Rodeo - Nanango
You've seen the Live the ride! sign on the highway south of Nanango - now it's time to experience it first-hand. The annual Nanango Lions Charity Rodeo will be held at the Nanango Rodeo Arena on Race Course Road, Nanango (just south of town) from 10:00am this morning through until 5:00pm this afternoon. The Rodeo always draws big crowds and this year the NRA-accredited events will include an Open Bullride, a Saddle Ride, Bareback Riding, Team Roping, Barrell Racing, Open and Junior rides. There'll also be Breakaway Roping (in both Open and Junior classes), Steer Wrestling, Calf Roping, a Junior Steer Ride and a Novice Bullride too. More than 200 competitors will be vying for prizes and poinrs and there'll be full catering on the grounds throughout the event. Admission is just $10 per single or $25 for a family pass, with all proceeds going to assist the Lions' 2005 charitable causes. More details? Phone Jenny on (07) 4162-4354 or email her
5th Annual Monster Easter Markets - Yallakool
The Murgon Rotary Club will be staging the final day of their weekend-long 5th Annual Monster Easter Markets at the Yallakool Tourist Park on the foreshores on the Bjelke-Petersen Dam today. If you'd like to get up early, there'll also be a special Easter Sunday Sevice organised by the Murgon Baptist Church on the lake foreshores at 7:30am. Last year's Monster Markets were a major success and this year's promise to be a really great family day out too!
