Notice Of Works: Vegetation Management Works
October 17, 2025 - South Burnett Regional Council advises that vegetation clearing and trimming works are programmed to be undertaken at various locations within the South Burnett, as listed below: • Wondai-Proston Road - Mt McEuen Road to Hivesville; and Proston-Abbeywood Road to Proston • Bunya Highway - Murphy's Road to Zolner Road; Benair Road intersection • Kingaroy-Cooyar Road - multiple isolated sections between Kumbia Road and Tarong-Yarraman Road • Chinchilla-Wondai Road - first 2km from Bunya Highway This package of works is to trim and remove vegetation for better clearance to motorists and to provide better visibility. To safely complete these works, it is necessary to have traffic control in place to close one lane to allow works to be undertaken. A single lane closure will be implemented with traffic control managing traffic past the work site via traffic lights. Works are anticipated to be commence on Monday, October 20, 2025 (subject to wet weather) and are expected to take four (4) weeks to complete. These works are programmed to be undertaken on Thursday, October 16, 2025 at 8:00am till approximately 4:00pm.Council advises residents along the affected streets to take appropriate action such as, turning off hot water systems and storing enough water for this period. Safe Tank Water Delivery To Your Home
October 14, 2025 - It’s that time of the year when the warmer weather hits and water deliveries increase to properties that rely on tank water. Did You Know?Water Carriers that provide drinking water to the public are required to hold a Food Business Licence with the Council and ensure they are complying with the public health requirements for safe drinking water. Council would like to encourage all residents when ordering water deliveries to undertake the following checks:1. Request to see a copy of the water carrier's current Food Business Licence 2. Final Consultation On Draft Community Plans
October 9, 2025 - South Burnett Regional Council is inviting our community to give final feedback on the development of the Community Plans. With the assistance of the local communities, the Draft Community Plans have been developed with residents giving input into their own local areas. The individual plans will be able to be used for specific communities and the consolidated document will assist Council to represent the region and advocate to other levels of government. Council will continue the cycle of the community meetings now each year, with one series held prior to the Budget being adopted and another series of meetings held after the adoption of the Budget. This will also allow the reporting back to the community on what has been achieved out of the Community Plans. During April, May and August 2025, Council consulted with the community to develop the Draft Community Plans. The second Draft Community Plans were approved at the Council meeting on Wednesday, September 17, and have now been released for the final opportunity for feedback. Reopening Of Blackbutt Swimming Pool
September 30, 2025 - The Blackbutt Swimming Pool will reopen at 12:00 noon today, Tuesday, September 30, after being temporarily closed due to low water temperatures unsuitable for swimming activities. The recent warmer weather has increased the water temperature, allowing the pool to open. The pool manager will continue to monitor water temperatures and display these readings at the kiosk for all pool users to view. The pool will be open between 12:00 noon and 4:00pm every day, including the King’s Birthday Public Holiday on Monday, October 6. September 26, 2025 - South Burnett Regional Council advises that the Glendon Street Playground, located on Glendon Street and Circular Place, Kingaroy, will be temporarily closed to undertake planned works for the Yurika Digital Connectivity Project. These works are programmed to commence on Monday, September 29, 2025 until Friday, October 31, 2025, weather and machinery permitting. The five carparks along the fence line of the Glendon Street playground will also be closed during these works. Temporary fencing will be installed around the playground to restrict access to public and enhance safety whilst construction is carried out. Indoor Heated Swimming Pool Trial
September 22, 2025 - The Kingaroy Aquatic Centre opened its Learn to Swim heated pool for public use for a six–week trial period, starting Saturday, September 20, to Friday, October 31, 2025. Availability of the pool will be 8:15am to 9:15am on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and public holidays 10:00am to 11:00am. Learn To Swim classes will remain as per schedule.There will be set rules in place for patrons to follow: Pool Rules1. A Lifeguard must always be present to perform lifesaving duties and not to assist with entering and exiting the pool. 2. Trainers, physiotherapists and carers must always be in the pool with their clients. 3. To access the pool, people must be able to enter and exit via the stairs and bench seating within the pool. 4. No chair lift is available. 5. The heated pool is not to be used for lap swimming. 6. No children are allowed access to pool without a parent in the water with them. 7. Children under the age of 12 must always be within arm’s reach. Patrons also need to remember that the Learn to Swin heated pool is indoors and has a temperature of 30 degrees C, which is not the temperature level for a hydrotherapy pool. Proston Swimming Pool Closure Notice
September 19, 2025 - Regrettably, the Proston Swimming Pool will temporarily close to the public as Council advertises for a new pool manager. Unfortunately, the Proston Parents and Citizens will not be continuing to supervise the Proston Pool this season. The Department of Education will oversee the pool for school swimming activities only. Council would also like to assure the Proston community that while the pool is closed at this stage, Council is in discussions with interested parties to manage the pool, further updates will be provided. Alternative Swimming OptionsDuring this period, no community activities such as public swimming, learn-to-swim classes, or exercise sessions will be available at the Proston Swimming Pool. August 29, 2025 - Council hereby notifies all ratepayers that rate notices for the period July 1 to December 31, 2025 have been issued on Friday, August 29, 2025 with a discount date of Friday, October 3, 2025. If you have not received your rate notice by Monday, September 8, 2025, please contact your local Customer Service Centre for a copy to be mailed to you. Non-receipt of rate notices is not an acceptable excuse for late payment of rates. The due date in the brochure entitled "2025/2026 Schedule of Rates" which accompanies the August 2025 rate notice makes reference to the last day to receive the 10 per cent discount as September 24, 2025. This date is incorrect. Please disregard this date, although earlier payment of rate levies is always encouraged and appreciated. Council’s customer service team is committed to providing exemplary customer service and will be happy to assist with rates inquiries. Council has zero-tolerance of abusive or unacceptable behaviour of customers. Swearing, threats, abuse, manipulation, and any act of violence will not be tolerated. Water Meter Reading Program
August 26, 2025 - South Burnett Regional Council advises residents that Council and/or its appointed water meter reading officer will soon begin reading water meters throughout the region for the half year period ending December 31, 2025. The water meter reading program will apply to all premises connected to the water supply schemes in Blackbutt, Boondooma, Kingaroy, Kumbia, Murgon, Nanango, Proston, Proston Rural, Tingoora, Wondai and Wooroolin for the purpose of recording water meter readings. The water meter reading program will commence during September 2025 and is expected to continue until Friday, December 19, 2025 and will be conducted between the hours of 6:00am and 6:00pm daily. The water meter reading program collects information for the billing of water consumption that will be included on the six-monthly rate notices to be issued in February 2026. Meter reading personnel may be required to enter properties to gain access to and read the water meters. It is a requirement of the property owner to ensure that Council personnel have clear access to the water meter for meter maintenance and reading purposes. Garden beds and tree planting near the water meter are to be avoided and you must keep a one (1) metre clearance around the water meter. For the safety of meter reading personnel, please ensure that your animals are enclosed within your property and check that garden vegetation does not obstruct access to your water meter. Level 3 Water Restrictions
Level 3 water restrictions are now in place throughout the South Burnett Region. Residents are advised that sprinklers are not to be used, and hosing of paved or concreted areas is not permitted. Hand held watering is permitted from 7:00am to 8:00am, and 5:00pm to 6:00pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays for odd numbered houses and Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays for even numbered houses.
