South Burnett Daily Calendar Listings for June 2020

Easing Of COVID-19 Restrictions
Queensland's COVID-19 lockdown restrictions will begin to ease from Stage 1 to Stage 2 from 12:00 noon today. The easing will allow Queenslanders to travel anywhere within the state (except for remote areas and discrete Indigenous communities such as Cherbourg); and restaurants, cafes and pubs that continue to operate under a COVID Safe checklist will be permitted to increase the total number of patrons from 10 to 20. Retail shopping for non-essentials is now permitted and up to 20 visitors can also visit a dwelling (and they do not need to be from the same household). You can find out more about the new restrictions on our website.

Easing Of Cherbourg Travel Restrictions
Cherbourg residents will be able to travel out of the community every day (seven days a week) from 7:00am to 10:00pm from today onwards. Multiple trips will be allowed and there is no limit on the number of passengers in vehicles. However, people travelling out of the community must return on the same day, and travel to COVID-19 hotspots - including Brisbane and the Gold Coast - is not allowed. You can read more about the eased Cherbourg restrictions on our website.

Mabo Day
Today is the final day of National Reconciliation Week for 2020 and it will finish with Mabo Day, which is held on June 3 each year to mark the landmark High Court decision in 1992 which overturned the principle of terra nullius (ie that Australia was unoccupied when Europeans arrived) and recognised Native Title rights as part of Australia's Common Law. Because of COVID-19, public celebrations of Mabo Day have been cancelled this year, but many Queensland communities will be hosting online Mabo Day celebrations instead. You can find out more about Reconciliation Week and Mabo Day on DATSIP's website.
