South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
112th Annual Nanango Show
The first day of the two-day 112th Annual Nanango Show will get underway at the Nanango Showgrounds in Cairns Street, Nanango at 9:00am this morning with equestrian events, whip cracking contests, riding and show jumping competitions running on several fields (there'll be more tomorrow as well). The famous Championship Dog Show will also kick off at 9:00am, while stewards are kept busy judging and handing out awards in the pavilions. At 11:15am, rounds of harness racing will be run in the main arena, and at 7:00pm a bullriding rodeo will get underway with lots of pulse-pounding action to please all ages. Other features of this year's Show include a big Sideshow Alley, lots of great amusement rides and live music, and if you come to the Show today and keep your ticket or wristband you can get back into the main day tomorrow for free!. Admission is still just $15 for adults and $10 for pension card holders and children over 14, but children under 14 accompanied by a paying adult can get in for free. Kilkivan Great Horse Ride
The first day of the 3-day Kilkivan Great Horse Ride will be held around Kilkivan today, with a Short Trail Ride of 12km along Widgee Creek departing from Kilkivan Showgrounds at 66 Mudlo Road at 12:00pm this afternoon for a leisurely ride through the Kilkivan countryside. Tonight there'll be a concert featuring Ryno And The Wranglers on offer at the Showgrounds along with food vendors and a licensed bar for everyone preparing for tomorrow's main day and/or Sunday's activities. Tickets for riders taking part in this year's Ride (which include Showgrounds camping and the campfire concerts) are $50 per adult or $25 for children under 16. Tickets for spectators are also available at $10 for a day pass; $20 for a day pass plus a concert; or $25 for a full 3-day pass. Kingaroy RSL Bingo
Bingo games will be running at Kingaroy RSL from 9:30am this morning (eyes down at 10:30am). There'll be multiple jackpots on offer, along with book games and raffles, and proceeds will go to help local good causes. Everyone is welcome. More details? Phone the RSL on (07) 4162-1755.
Cuppa And Chat Group
Kingaroy's Cuppa and Chat Group will be holding its weekly meeting at The Biscuit Tin behind St Mary's Church at 15 Albert Street, Kingaroy from 10:00am to around 11:00am today. As the name suggests, members enjoy a cuppa and biscuits baked in the community kitchen, and simply chat about whatever interests them. More details? Friday Croquet - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Croquet Club will be playing croquet games at the rear of the Kingaroy Cricket Club in Youngman Street, Kingaroy (just next to Beangrowers) from 9:00am to around 11:30am this morning. Friday Social Golf - Proston
The Proston Golf Club on Brigooda Road, Proston will be holding a Friday afternoon social golf game today. Names need to be in by 2:00pm for a 2:30pm tee-off, and everyone is welcome. Kingaroy QCWA Branch Meeting
The Kingaroy QCWA Branch will be holding a meeting at its rooms in Kingaroy Street, Kingaroy (just next to the RSL) from 9:30am this morning. All women are welcome to join the branch - you don't need to be able to cook or sew - and if you join today they'll throw in 3 months membership for free. The QCWA are a fun bunch of girls and they will happily teach you any craft or skill you want to learn. All women are welcome!

South Burnett Pantry - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Pantry will be open from 8:30am to 12:00 noon today at 22 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $40 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items).
