Mabo Day
- Today is the final day of National Reconciliation Week for 2020 and it will finish with Mabo Day, which is held on June 3 each year to mark the landmark High Court decision in 1992 which overturned the principle of terra nullius (ie that Australia was unoccupied when Europeans arrived) and recognised Native Title rights as part of Australia's Common Law. Because of COVID-19, public celebrations of Mabo Day have been cancelled this year, but many Queensland communities will be hosting online Mabo Day celebrations instead. You can find out more about Reconciliation Week and Mabo Day on DATSIP's website.
