South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Murgon Music Muster
The first invited artists day of the 2019 Murgon Music Muster will be held at the South Burnett PCYC in Macalister Street, Murgon from 7:30am this morning - when things kick off with Bush Poets Breakfast and a walk-up artists concert - through until 10:00pm tonight. The Muster will be officially opened at 1:00pm and this will be followed with performances from Homegrown (1:45pm); Brendan Smoother (2:20pm); Jack Viljoen (2:55pm); Chris Pritchard (3:30pm); Clarrie Weller (4:05pm); and John Abbot (4:40pm). After a 90 minute dinner break Steve Sparrow (6:45pm), Tracy Coster (7:20pm), Brendan Radford (7:55pm), Chris Callaghan (8:30pm) and Anne Kirkpatrick (9:05pm) will round out the day. Tickets today are $30 for adults or $10 for young people aged 12-18 (under-12s are free). You can find out more on the Muster's website
Colour Fun Run - Kingaroy
St John's Lutheran School P&F Association are hosting their second annual Colour Fun Run from 5:00pm to 7:00pm this evening at the school's oval at 92 Ivy Street, Kingaroy. There'll be two age divisions - one for young children from Kindy to Grade 3 (5:00pm to 5:45pm), the other for children Grade 4 and above (5:30pm to 6:15pm). Coloured powder bags will be on sale for $3, and there'll also be a BBQ and soft drinks available as well. The Colour Fun Run will include inflatables, an obstacle course, a DJ and music and all young people are very welcome to take part, whether they're St John's students or not. The entry fee to be part of the Colour Run is just $12 and you can book tickets online at Trybooking (registrations close on October 31 and include a free colour bag).
Pink Up Karaoke - Goomeri
As part of Pink Up South Burnett - which starts today and runs to November 11 - a Pink Up Karaoke Night will be held at the Goomeri Bowls Club in Moore Street, Goomeri tonight. Activities will get underway with a $2.50 sausage sizzle at 6:00pm, followed by karaoke at 7:30pm. There'll also be raffles, prizes for the best "Pink Up" outfit and a licensed bar operating. Entry is just $5 per person and all proceeds of the evening will be donated to the McGrath Foundation to support their breast care nursing program. Everyone is welcome! Bugger The Drought RSVP Deadline
Today is the last day you can register to attend the free Bugger The Drought evening being held at Mondure Hall next Friday night, November 8 (see entry that day for all details).
Art Exhibition Opening - Wondai
The Wondai Regional Art Gallery on the roundabout at Wondai will be opening their latest monthly exhibition with a wine and cheese tasting at 6:00pm tonight. This month the gallery will be showcasing new works by award-winning local artist Elizabeth Greensill in the front gallery; new paper tole craftworks by Rosemarie Matthews-Frederick in the main gallery; works by Kylie Madill in the rear gallery; and children's works by students at Murgon's C&K Kindergarten in Kidz Korner. As usual, tonight's opening will also feature great hot and cold finger foods and punch, along with wine tastings from Clovely Estate, live entertainment and lots of fun socialising. Nanango Blue Light Roller Skating
The Nanango Blue Light Disco committee will be holding their regular U18s Blue Light roller skating night at the Nanango Skating Rink in George Street, Nanango from 6:00pm to 8:00pm this evening. There'll be lots of fun plus games and prizes, and a canteen will be operating too. Admission is $5, which includes skate hire, and the event is fully supervised. Friday Night At The Shed - Nanango
The Shed in Little Drayton Street, Nanango (just next to the Scott Car Park) will be open from 7:00pm until late tonight for local musicians and anyone else who enjoys music to come along, bring their instruments and jam in a relaxed and informal setting (or just sit on the Shed's lounges, listen in and enjoy the wide variety of talent on offer). The Cuppa and Chat Group will be holding its weekly meeting at The Biscuit Tin behind St Mary's Church at 15 Albert Street, Kingaroy from 10:00am to around 11:00am today. The Kingaroy State High School Instrumental Music Band will be performing an "Around The World Musical Tour" at the Kingaroy Performing Arts Centre at the end of Markwell Street, Kingaroy at 6:00pm tonight. The concert will feature a variety of well-known tunes from different countries and admission is just a gold coin donation. Everyone is welcome!
What’s Your Beef - Kumbia
The AgForce Qld Cattle Board is hosting an open industry event today for all beef producers, whether AgForce members or not. The forum will be held at 'Cardowan', 1563 Ironpot Road. Industry experts, including MLA managing director Jason Strong, will participate in sessions. The Cattle Forum will run from 10:30am to 5:00pm and will be followed by drinks and a barbecue. South Burnett Pantry - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Pantry will be open from 8:30am to 12:30pm today at 22 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $40 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items).
