BVRT Festival Of Cycling & Finish Line Festival - Yarraman
The Brisbane Valley Rail Trail Users Association and Bicycle Queensland will be running their annual Festival Of Cycling along the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail today. This event - which attracts participants from all over SE Qld and northern NSW - offers three courses of 44, 75 and 161km (from Wulkuraka, Toogoolawah and Linville) and all three races will finish at Yarraman. As part of this event, the Yarraman Business Group will be staging a Finish Line Festival at the trailhead at the end of Millar Street, Yarraman that will include music, food and markets between 10:00am and 4:00pm so the families and friends of riders can enjoy the town while they await their arrival, and the general public are very welcome to come along too. Tickets to take part in this fully supported ride are $40 to $130 per person (depending on the course length you choose) and they can be booked online, but admission to the Finish Line Festival is free.
Nanango Country Markets
The Nanango Show Society will be holding their regular monthly Country Markets at the Nanango Showgrounds in Cairns Street from 6:00am to around 12:00 noon today. As usual, the markets will feature a wide variety of craft stalls, new and used goods, plants, poultry and pets, but they'll be operating in a COVID Safe way. The Nanango Markets are the largest rural market in south east Queensland and attract up to 420 stallholders. But new stallholders are always very welcome too! More info? Yarraman Men's Shed
The Yarraman Men's Shed at the end of Mill Street, Yarraman will be holding one of its regular get-togethers today. The Men's Shed is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays and new members are always welcome. More details? Send them an email
Saturday Rugby League - Kingaroy
This weekend's local league competition will be played at T.J. O'Neill Oval in Youngman Street, Kingaroy, kicking off with three U12s matches at 8:00am (Kingaroy 1 vs Murgon 2), 8:50am (Murgon 1 vs Cherbourg) and 9:40am (Nanango vs Kingaroy 2). At 9:30am, an U6s match will be played on a second field, and this will be followed by two U8s games at 10:30am (Kingaroy 1 vs Murgon 2 and Kingaroy 2 vs Murgon 1), and then a final U8s match at 11:30am (Nanango vs Cherbourg/Wondai) plus the first of the U10s matches (Kingaroy 1 vs Murgon 2), followed by two more U10s matches at 12:30pm (Nanango vs Cherbourg and Kingaroy 2 vs Murgon 1). Thee'll also be two U14s games on a separate field - Murgon vs Nanango at 10:30am and Kingaroy vs Chinchilla at 11:30am, and then an U15s match at 12:30pm (South Burnett vs Highfields), followed by the U17s girls at 1:45pm (South Burnett vs Roma/Highfields), then the U16s at 2:45pm (South Burnett vs Highfields), followed by the U18s at 4:00pm (South Burnett vs Brothers). And finally - in A Grade - Kingaroy's Red Ants will play Wondai Wolves at 5:30pm, followed by a clash between the Nanango Stags and Murgon Mustangs at 7:00pm. Today is also the SBRL's Pink Day to raise funds for cancer research, so in addition to a bar and canteen there'll also be pink fairy floss and many other pink treats on offer. Everyone is welcome to come watch a great day of footy action!
Wondai Parkrun
The Wondai parkrun group will be holding their weekly 5km timed runs at Coronation Park in Wondai at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the South Burnett Rail Trail and the parkrun group is free to join. All you need to do is register (once) online at parkrun.com.au and bring the printed barcode to any parkrun event. More details? Send an email.

South Burnett Saints Heritage Day
The South Burnett Saints will be hosting their annual Heritage Day at Lyle Vidler Oval in Youngman Street, Kingaroy today. The event is open to past and present South Burnett Australian Rules players (ie Bulldogs, Jets and Saints), committee members, volunteers and supporters, who are all invited to join in a day of “sharing on-the-field and off-the-field memories” as the Saints celebrate 40 years of AFL in the region. The event will be held in conjunction with two home games: the Saints women’s team will play the Goondiwindi Hawks at 12:45pm; and they'll be followed by the men's team, who'll play the Coolaroo Roos at 2:30pm in the 7th round of the Darling Downs AFL competition. A canteen and bar will also be running, admission is free, COVIDSafe rules apply and everyone is welcome!
Yarraman Markets
The Yarraman Progress Association's Yarraman Markets will be held on the vacant block at the corner of the D'Aguilar and New England Highways (ie opposite Bendigo Bank) in Yarraman from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon today. The markets feature trash and treasure stalls, car boot sellers, local produce and hand-made goods, as well as food stalls, and are held weekly. Everyone is welcome and if you'd like to book a stall yourself - it's only $5! - call Joe on (0459) 638-282. Note: All patrons and stallholders are asked to observe proper social distancing to stay safe.
Murgon Men's Shed
The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the shed next to the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Men's Shed meets every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday to work on projects and new members are always welcome.
Alex The Frenchman At The Palace - Nanango
Popular South Burnett entertainer Alex The Frenchman will be performing at the Palace Hotel in Drayton Street, Nanango from 8:00pm to around 11:00pm tonight. Alex hasn't been seen at the Palace for a looooong time (thanks COVID!) so tonight's show is a great chance for fans to catch up with him. John Lindsay - Linville
The Linville Hotel in George Street, Linville will have ballads, blues and country entertainer John Lindsay performing over ikts lunch and dinner sessions today.
