Healthy Communities Breakfast - Nanango
The South Burnett Regional Council will be holding a free community breakfast at Reg McCallum Park in Nanango from 7:00am to 9:00am this morning to help launch the Healthy Communities lifestyle program across the region. Healthy Communities is an Australian Government funded initiative designed to promote better eating and exercise and in addition to a free chow-down there'll also be prize giveaways donated by Struddy's Sports World and Sunshine Mitre 10 in Kingaroy; a live broadcast by CROW-FM 90.7; and fun activities as well. There'll also be a free nutrition and label reading workshop on offer from 9:00am to 11:30am after the brekkie winds down. Everyone is welcome and you can obtain more information by phoning Healthy Communities Coordinator Kerry Oldfield at the South Burnett Regional Council on (07) 4189-9100. Note: Similar breakfasts will be held at Kumbia, Kingaroy, Wooroolin, Tingoora, Wondai, Murgon and Proston between today and the end of this month.
Endeavour Foundation Bingo - Kingaroy
The Endeavour Foundation will be holding bingo games at Kingaroy RSL from 10:00am this morning. More than $1,000 in jackpots will be on offer. More details from the RSL on (07) 4162-1755
Art Exhibition Opening - Wondai
The Wondai Regional Art Gallery on the roundabout at Wondai will be kicking off their 2012 monthly exhibitions with a wine and cheese tasting at 6:00pm this evening. Tonight's exhibition will feature a range of artworks by Childers artist Alice McLaughlin and South Burnett artists Rosemarie Frederick and Terrence Redman. As usual, tonight's opening will also feature great finger foods and wine tastings from a South Burnett winery. Admission is $5 and everyone is very welcome to attend! More details? Friday Night Dinner & Social Darts - Nanango
The Nanango and District Darts Association will be holding their regular Friday night social darts games at their club house at the end of George Street, Nanango from 7:15pm onwards this evening. They'll also be offering inexpensive home-cooked dinners from 6:30pm if you want to chow down beforehand (but please phone the club on (07) 4163-1677 to book a seat). The club's licenced bar will be operating too, and both visitors and potential new members are very welcome.
The Rusty Wheeler Show - Wondai
The Warana Hotel in Mackenzie Street, Wondai and Typhoon Cues will be presenting two-time Australian 8 Ball Pool Champion John "Rusty" Wheeler tonight. In a demonstration of cue mastery, Rusty will perform a number of trick shots, give some coaching advice and even teach a few hustles along the way. Then for those wanting to test themselves against the best in the country, players will get their chance through the evening. Cues and accessories will be available for purchase tonight too, and half of all profits will go to Rusty to help fund his tour of England as he Captains Australia once more. More details? Moroccan Roll - Kingaroy

DJdirex - Nanango
The South Burnett's most popular emcee DJdirex will be spinning the platters from 8:00pm until late tonight at the Fitzroy Hotel in Fitzroy Street, Nanango. Admission is free. More details from the hotel on (07) 4163-1506. Note: Tonight's gig was originally scheduled to be held last Friday but had to be cancelled at the last minute due to heavy rain in the region. Friday Social Golf - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Golf Club on the Bunya Highway at Kingaroy will holding their regular Friday 9-ers 9 hole social golfing sessions for men and women from 8:00am until dusk today. Everyone is most welcome (including non-members) and green fees are $11 for members or $14 for non-members for the nine holes - but this also includes a card draw for prizes in the clubhouse in the evening (there's also a Jackpot card draw on the last Friday of each month). Chopper Roller Field Day - Manumbar
A free Chopper Roller Field Day will be held at BJ Gentry's eastern property off Manumbar Road north of Nanango from 9:00am to 3:00pm today (look for the signs on Manumbar Road). The Field Day will provide demonstrations of how to use chopper rollers to thin out over-stocked spotted gum regrowth and how they can be used to improve access for fire management and speed up the breakdown of large woody harvest debris. The Field Day would be of interest to anyone with forested areas to manage and all you need to bring along is a packed lunch, a water bottle and a chair. More details?
