South Burnett Training Awards - Murgon
The 3rd annual South Burnett Training Awards will be held at Murgon Town Hall in Gore Street, Murgon, from 5:30pm to around 8:30pm tonight. The Awards - presented by the Kingaroy Sunrise Rotary Club - recognise outstanding South Burnett apprentices and trainees, as well as regional small businesses. In addition, the event will also see the presentation of this year's Kingaroy Rotary Club Pride Of Workmanship awards which recognise outstanding Kingaroy businesses. The evening will offer guests a buffet dinner and live entertainment and tickets are just $50, but to help plan the catering they need to be booked online in advance. Goomeri Twilight Markets
As part of the Goomeri Pumpkin Festival weekend, there'll be twilight markets running in the heart of town from 3:00pm to 10:00pm this evening. There'll also be food trucks, fire twirling, fireworks and live music from Keely Ellen and her band, Natalie Fenton and Flute Salad. Free entry! Pumpkin Cup Golf Day
- Goomeri Golf Club, on Goomeri West Road, will be hosting the Pumpkin Cup today as part of the three-day Goomeri Pumpkin Festival weekend. The single stroke event is for golfers and novices. Bookfest, Garage & Plant Sale - Yarraman
Yarraman's Heritage Centre, at 26 Millar Street, will be holding a Bookfest from 10:00am to 3:00pm today and tomorrow. There'll be novels, children's books, reference books and much more! Degustation Dinner - Goomeri

Australian Rules - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Saints' three teams will be taking on teams from the Goondiwindi Hawks today at Lyle Vidler Oval, Youngman Street, Kingaroy. At 11:30am, the Under 13.5s will be in action, followed by the women playing a scratch match at 1:00pm and the men playing the Hawks at 2:45pm. Spectators are invited to come along to support the home teams in action!
Motherland Fundraiser - Kingaroy
- Mums are invited to attend a special Mother’s Day event to day from 1:00pm to 4:00pm today at Hillview Cottages, 297 Birt Road, Kingaroy, to support Motherland, a national charity that aims to reduce isolation and improve mental health outcomes for rural women. There'll be delicious nibbles, drinks and the opportunity to have some meaningful chats! The afternoon will feature a panel discussion with three local women - Kylea Hodgkinson-Jones (Firebreak Farm), Felicity Burton (Burton Family Beef & Diamond K Performance Horses) and Jenny Lutz (founder of the South Burnett Autism Support group).
The panel will be facilitated by Motherland founder Stephanie Trethewey and will be exploring the highs and lows of rural motherhood. Tickets are $85, which includes a welcome drink and nibbles, and can be booked online.
Rugby League - Murgon & Cherbourg
The Murgon Mustangs will be hosting junior rugby league games in Under 6s through to Under 12s at Murgon Showgrounds from 8:00am today. There'll also be several South Burnett sides in action: 12:40pm, U43kg South Burnett Eagles v South Burnett Zone 4 Under 12s; 1:30pm, U35kg South Burnett Eagles v South Burnett Open Weight Under 10s; and at 2:20pm, Under 15/16 South Burnett Eagles v Highfields. South Burnett Rugby League A Grade games will be played at Cherbourg. At 2:30pm, Murgon will take on the Wondai Wolves, followed by at 4:00pm, Cherbourg Hornets v Kingaroy Red Ants.
Churchyard Op Shop Markets - Nanango
- The Anglican Churchyard Op Shop, at the corner of Drayton and Burnett Streets in Nanango, will be open from 7:30am to around 11:30am today. There'll be stalls selling plants, craftwork, books, bric-a-brac and lots more, as well as a $3 sausage sizzle and tea and coffee for a gold coin donation. Senior Soccer - Kingaroy
Kingaroy Senior Soccer Club will be hosting their third home games of the season today at their grounds at Tom Alford Oval in Oliver Bond Street, Kingaroy. Kingaroy’s Division 1 team will take on UniSQ at 5:00pm, followed by the Division 2 game between Kingaroy and Dalby at 7:00pm. The canteen will be open and spectators are invited to come along and support the local teams in action!
Watercolour Painting - Kingaroy
- Jumping Ant Arts members are hosting a series of workshops in conjunction with their Antfest 2025 exhibition at Kingaroy Art Gallery. Saturday Library Day - Maidenwell
- The volunteers from the Maidenwell QCWA will be supervising the regular weekly Saturday Library Day (featuring books loaned from Kingaroy Library) from 2:00pm to 4:00pm this afternoon. A library day is held in the Maidenwell Hall in Pool Street every Wednesday and Saturday.
Come & Try Dragon Boating - BP Dam
The Barambah Dragons dragon boat club invites people to try out the ancient Chinese sport of dragon boat racing at Bjelke-Petersen Dam from 9:00am (for a 9:30am paddle-off) on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month. Paddles and gear will be supplied but participants should wear closed shoes that can tolerate getting wet and bring along sunscreen, water, a towel and warm clothes for afterwards. The event is free and will be followed by a gold coin donation sausage sizzle. Everyone is welcome! NB. Check the club's Facebook page as times could change due to the weather.
Never Two Late - Linville
- Duo Never Two Late will be performing at the Linville Hotel in George Street, Linville from 4:00pm until 8:00pm tonight. Wheelchair Basketball - Murgon
South Burnett Wheelchair Basketball will be played today from 10:00am to noon at the South Burnett PCYC in Macalister Street, Murgon. All equipment is provided but participants must wear enclosed shoes and bring a water bottle. Wheelchair basketball is an all-abilities game and everyone is invited to come along and have a go!
Proston Men's Shed
