Pancake Tuesday - Wondai
Today is Shrove Tuesday (probably now better known as International Pancake Day) and it heralds the beginning of fasting in Lent. According to historians Pancake Day had is origins in medieval times when feasts of pancakes were held to use up supplies of fat, butter and eggs because these foods were forbidden during Lent. Here are the Pancake Day celebrations going on in the South Burnett today that we know about:
  • Mother Kate's Early Learning Centre at 25 McCord Street, Wondai will be holding a Pancake Day at 10:00am this morning. The Centre's Kindergarten and Long Day Children will be making and eating beautiful pancakes and the public are welcome to join in. More details? Phone Sharon on (07) 4169-0811 or email her.
  • In Kingaroy, the Anglican Ladies Guild will be holding a Pancake Day celebration of their own from 9:30am onwards at the church hall in Alford Street. Admission is a slim $2 and there'll be a morning tea, a lucky door prize and a raffle, along with a special prize for the "best tea towel" (so hunt through your cupboards and bring along your favourite). Kingaroy Writers Association Meeting - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Writers' Association will be holding their twice-monthly meeting between 9:30am and 12:00 noon this morning at the Uniting Church Hall on the corner of Alford and Youngman Streets in Kingaroy. Members meet on the first and third Tuesdays of each month to share their work with other members and take part in writing and word exercises. Membership is just $5 per annum and meetings are $2 to cover tea and coffee (bring a plate for a shared morning tea experience). New members are always very welcome! More details? Tuesday Afternoon Scrabble - Kingaroy

Proston Over 50s Meeting
The Proston Over 50s Club will be holding their regular monthly meeting and social at Proston Town Hall in Rodney Street, Proston from 10:00am onwards this morning. The $2 admission fee includes morning tea and there'll be a communal lunch at around noon (bring along a plate to share). The Nanango State School P&C will be holding their Annual General Meeting at the school's staff room at 39 Drayton Steet, Nanango at 6:00pm this evening. All interested people are welcome to attend.
Wine & Food In The Park Festival Committee Meeting - Kingaroy
The Wine & Food In The Park Festival committee will be holding a meeting at the South Burnett Enterprise Centre at 6 Cornish Street in Kingaroy at 5:30pm this evening to plan this year's event (which will be held at Memorial Park in Kingaroy on Saturday 10th March). Active Local Parks - Kingaroy
RHealth will run the first of a series of four weekly "Active Local Parks" sessions at Memorial Park in Haly Steet, Kingaroy from 9:15am to 10:30am this morning. The event allows participants to try a variety of fitness activities (including yoga and fitness circuits) with local, qualified fitness instructors. Tuesday Morning Bingo - Kingaroy
