Kumbia's Ambassador Dinner Dance - Kumbia
2012 is Kumbia's Centenary, and to kick things off a special "Ambassador for Kumbia Dinner Dance" will be held at the Kumbia Memorial Hall in Bell Street tonight to announce the official Ambassador for the event - and it should be a blast! Taffeta, shoulder pads and big hair? Mini skirts and knee-high boots? No matter what fashion era you fancy, put on your glad rags and fancy pants and come dressed to impress. The Kumbia Ambassador Dinner Dance is fully licensed and will start at 6:00pm with pre-dinner drinks and hors d'oeuvres, as well as a never-seen-before game of Kumbiaopoly (ie Monopoly, Kumbia style). There'll also be raffles and fun for all! Tickets to the dance are $50 per head and that includes hors d'oeuvres, a great two course meal, tea and coffee. Friendship Markets - Kingaroy
- The third Saturday of the month Friendship Markets will be held at the Senior Citizens Centre in Avoca Street, Kingaroy from 6:30am to around 12:00pm today. 2nd Annual Windera Music Muster
Windera State School P&C will be holding their second annual Winder Music Muster at the school's leafy grounds from 3:00pm until around 10:00pm tonight. The event will feature popular country music balladeer Dean Perrett and his band along with many other great local artists including Muddy Flats. This open air concert is a fundraiser for the school's P&C to help them purchase resources for the kids, and there'll also be a licensed bar, children's entertainment, hot chips, burgers, a sausage sizzle and (once again) the very popular Kup Murri prepared by Andrew Becket. Camping sites are available as well and if you enjoy a relaxing afternoon and evening of good music, good company and yummy food this is a great late-summer event you simply shouldn't miss. Admission is $15 for adults and $5 for high school students (primary school and below are free) and everyone's welcome. Dive-In Movies - Goomeri
Here's something different! Murgon SES, the Goomeri Pool and Goomeri Homes & Renovations will be holding a "Dive In Movie" showing of Mr. Popper's Penguins at the Goomeri pool from 6:00pm (when gates open) until around 8:30pm this evening as a summer activity for young people and their parents. Mr. Popper's Penguins is a new-release G-rated comedy starring Jim Carey and in addition to a fun movie food, drinks and a sausage sizzle will be available on-site too if you want buy something to quench your appetite. Admission is $5 and children under 12 need to be accompanied by an adult. The event is also drug and alcohol free and no alcohol, glass, food or drinks can be brought into the venue. Friendship Dance - Kingaroy
- The first monthly Friendship Dance for 2012 will be held at the Kingaroy Senior Citizens Centre in Avoca Street, Kingaroy (opposite Super IGA) at 7:30pm this evening, with music supplied by a local band. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for high school students and there'll be a raffle, a lucky door prize and lucky spots too. Everyone is welcome! More details? Burrandowan Campdraft
- The first full day of the annual Burrandowan Campdraft will be held at the Burrandowan Race Track 60km south-west of Kingaroy from 5:30am this morning through until late tonight. The Campdraft is a fund-raiser for the Burrandowan Picnic Races and today's campdrafting action will feature the Maiden and Open campdrafting categories (Ladies, Junior, Juvenile, Novice and Restricted Open will be held tomorrow). Admission to the Campdraft is 100% free for spectators and open-air camping facilities, hot showers, power and a limited number of horse stalls are available onsite. A fully licensed bar and canteen will be operating over the entire weekend. Kilkivan Maket Day Fundraiser
The Kilkivan Kindergarten will be holding a Market Day at the Kilkivan Hall in Bligh Street, Kilkivan from 10:00am to 1:30pm this morning as a fundraiser. The event will feature a wide range of Party Plan consultants demonstrating their products (including Partylite Candles, Lorraine Lea Linen, Itworks (health & wellbeing), Chocoholics Anonymous, Tupperware, Undercover Wear, BubbleOnIn (organic homemade soaps), Body Shop, Kids Clothing, Wooden Toys and Creata Direct Learning) as well as a range of quality market stalls with products for sale. Admission is by gold coin donation (which will also put you in the running for the Lucky Door Prize) and there'll be raffles drawn throughout the day for great prizes donated by the show's party plan exhibitors. Free tea and coffee are included in the admission price and there'll be a selection of morning teas available at the bake sale too. Ken Baines Disco - Kingaroy
- Another Ken Baines Disco and Dance - a fun night for people of any age living with a disability (intellectual or physical) - will be held at St Mary's Hall at 15 Albert Street in Kingaroy from 7:00pm to 11:00pm this evening. What's On At The Wineries This Weekend
The South Burnett's wineries and cellar doors will all be open this weekend if you want to relax in their cafes and/or taste their wines. The South Burnett is now the largest wine region in Queensland and (excluding the Granite Belt) larger than all the State's other wine regions put together.
